SUMMARY:Round Here at Form/Design Center
DESCRIPTION:22/11 2023–14/1 2024\nForm/Design Center\, Malmö\nThe exhibition Round Here was first shown at Designarkivet in the summer of 2023. Now the exhibition moves on to Form/Design Center in Malmö! \nRound Here is about the many different craft and design histories found in Småland\, a place that many of us have come to know through successful glass and furniture industries. Historically\, very little design history has been written from Småland\, despite the fact that many design objects have been produced there. Instead\, design history has been formulated and decided by the institutions\, museums\, and universities of the big cities\, which often share a traditional perspective with a focus on the products and the individual designer. Through such an approach\, other stories are at risk of disappearing from the historiography. \nRound Here presents many different histories from a specific place. These are stories that today can be found in local heritage museums\, in civil society\, museums\, and local historical networks. Together\, in the exhibition\, we write a craft and design history with the whole of Småland – a diverse story about different everyday lives\, about material skills and crafts\, and about life in the villages. Round Here is about design and craft that are not tied to purchasing power\, products\, and abstract perceptions of beauty and ugliness. \nThe exhibition is produced by Designarkivet and summarises the three-year development project (Re-)Learning the Archive. The project has developed and tested a method for how we can expand the design history writing through an inclusive\, listening\, and learning practice. \nParticipants\nMagnus Bärtås & Behzad Khosravi Noori\, Annika Elmqvist\, Makda Embaie\, Frantzwagner Sällskapet\, Hönsalottas Luffarmuseum\, Kalmar Läns Hemslöjd\, MADAM snickeri och restaurering\, Evelina Mohei\, Tuomo Nieminen\, Ann Rydh\, Studio Goja\, Rosa Tolnov Clausen & Daniele Burlando \nOpening and seminar 21/11\n16.30–18.00: The seminar “Småland and Malmö – about working with a place”\nTraditionally\, design practice has been defined as placeless\, but today we see a shift towards a design that seeks to act in a place\, in processes\, in society together with those who act here. The seminar\, which is held in English\, will be held by Åsa Ståhl\, lecturer in design at Linnaeus University\, Finn Williams\, city architect in Malmö\, and Christina Zetterlund\, project manager for (Re-)learning the Archive and curator for Round Here. Based on different places and experiences\, they show examples of how we can work together with a place. \nPlease note that registration is required! \n18.00–20.00: Opening with talks\nThe seminar is followed by the opening of the exhibition\, where Christina Zetterlund presents the exhibition and talks with Jon Pettersson about the Frantzwagner Society’s work in writing the cultural history of travelers\, and Bettina Pehrsson who talks about the Design Archive in Nybro. \n Read more about the evening and how to register at Form/Design Center.

SUMMARY:Conversations about sharing and stone walls
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to conversations about sharing and stone walls! \nWhen: 8th March\, 2022\, 4PM-6PM\nWhere: Under Ekarna\, Växjö\nHost: (Re-)learning the Archive \nOn International Women’s Day on March 8 we invite you to two conversations that springs from a dialogue with Elin Wägner and her house Lilla Björka. Elin Wägner’s work for women’s rights was closely linked to a commitment to pacifism and care for nature. We explore how we\, in our present and ongoing re-learning\, can find seeds for a sustainable future in Elin Wägner’s thinking and at the place Lilla Björka. \n16.00-16.15\nÅsa Ståhl and Christina Zetterlund welcome and present the project (Re-)learning the Archive and the meeting between design practitioners and design researchers which took place at Lilla Björka in the autumn of 2021. \n16.15-16.50\nThe first conversation is about sharing. Katarina Bonnevier\, Andrea Botero\, Bianca Elzenbaumer and Åsa Ståhl investigate the questions: how we can make something to share – or possibly unmake to share? What can we share – is for example a surplus required? Who has the capacity to share\, with whom? \n17.00-17.40\nThe second conversation with and about stone walls. Franca Lopez Barbera\, Leah Ireland and Christina Zetterlund discuss the mossy stone walls that are an essential part of Småland’s landscape. These are both contemporary and historical traces of the relationship between farmers and their land. In this conversation\, we want to stay with the stone walls and reflect on what they tell us about ways of relating to nature\, laboring bodies\, and the creative potential of refusal. \nThe program is held in English. \nYou can either participate online or join us at Under Ekarna.\nLink to the Zoom: https://lnu-se.zoom.us/j/61464124424?pwd=bndwWnlaUzNHTE1FUlJnUEtUcFdndz09\nThere are a maximum of 20 seatings at Under Ekarna\, to book your seat\, email: maija.zetterlund@designarkivet.se \nThe seminar is arranged in collaboration with Linnaeus university with support from IASPIS. \nWELCOME!
